DATA PROTECTION NOTICE

New data protection legislation came into force across the EU on 25 May 2018. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) strengthens and unifies data protection for individuals within the EU. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. Historically, Swiss data protection legislation has been closely tied to EU regulations. Therefore, the Swiss National Park website and online shop fall under the GDPR.

About personal data

Personal data means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person. Your first and last names, your landline phone number, and/or your physical, e-mail or IP addresses constitute personal data.

How we collect, process and use your personal data

We are very protective of your personal data, and only collect, store and process this data for our own use, for example to deal with your order via our online shop.

In compliance with the new regulation, we will only– and securely – export your personal details to third parties for the purpose of services delivered on our behalf (see below, Google Analytics https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update?ref=old_policy).

Your personal data and marketing

We will never use your personal data for marketing purposes.

Cookies

About cookies

Cookies are files that are sent by web servers to web browsers, and which may then be sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies can be used by web servers to identify and track you as you navigate different pages on a website, and to identify you when you return to a website.

Cookies may be either "persistent" or "session" cookies. A session cookie will expire at the end of your session, when you close the web browser. By contrast, persistent cookies consist of text files sent by a web server to a web browser. Unless you delete them before their expiry date, persistent cookies will be stored by the browser and remain valid until their set expiry date.

Cookies on nationalpark.ch

This website uses cookies to improve our services. Some cookies are strictly necessary for site operation, while others make nationalpark.ch easier for you to use, for example by storing some of your personal data so you do not have to insert them during each new session.

You may block cookies in your browser settings. However, please note that blocking our cookies will make nationalpark.ch less easy to use.

The cookies we use

Most of the cookies on nationalpark.ch are session cookies. They are automatically deleted from your hard drive when you close your browser. For example, session cookies avoid having to show you this notice each time you visit a new page on our website.

We also use persistent cookies that remain on your hard drive, and automatically recall your previous choices when you return to our website. Our persistent cookies have a set expiry date of between 1 month and 10 years. Unless you delete them sooner, they will remain on your hard drive until their pre-set expiry date.

Data stored in the cookies we use

The cookies used by nationalpark.ch only store pseudonymous data. When a cookie is activated, it is given a unique identification code and your personal data is not attributed. The cookies used by this website do not store your name, Internet Protocol (IP) address or any similar information that personally identifies you.

Google Analytics

nationalpark.ch uses Google Analytics, a service offered by Google Inc. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en Google Analytics mainly uses first-party cookies to report on user interactions on our website in order to help us understand how it is used. The information generated when you visit this website, including your IP address, is reported to and stored on a Google server located in the US, which has less stringent privacy laws than the EU.

Google Inc. uses the information to analyse and report on activities on our site, and to provide other services related to the use of our site, and of the Internet. Google Inc. may

also forward the information when required to do so by law, or to third parties commissioned by Google to process the data.
