Geo information

An own Geographic Information System (GIS) was set up for the Swiss National Park in 1992 on the initiative of the Research Commission and the Geographic Institute of the University of Zurich.

The GIS system of the National Park not only provides data and maps for administration and communication, but is also of key importance for maintaining, saving and analysing the large amount of data that is being collected in the National Park. In supporting researchers and analysing data of various scientific disciplines, we have gained a wide know-how of scientific processes. Our expertise covers particularly the following areas: cartography, spatial analyses, database management, database design, system administration, land surveys, photogrammetry, remote sensing, Web-GIS, mobile GIS-applications and visitor monitoring.

A comprehensive catalogue of the Geo-database describes the spatial data and links geo-data to its respective publications, projects and institutes.
