Since the year 2000 the GIS is a separate department within the administration of the SNP (Spatial Information Department). A team of 4 people takes care of all geo information issues.
A substantial and highly valuable amount of data has been collected during the past decades in the National Park, which is stored digitally for its long-term conservation.
This dataset is continuously extended by ongoing observations and further processed within the GIS system. This aspect is of particular importance for research in order to better document, understand and present ongoing processes.
