For over 300 years miners extracted ore, by hand, from the slopes of Mot Madlain, each man advancing just a few centimetres each day.
The mining galleries extend over 13 kilometres, with shafts descending to 20 metres.
The museum offers a wealth of information: the geology of the region, the origin of the the dinosaur tracks; it shows the destructive exploitation of our forests, mining and smelting, and the harsh living conditions in S-charl.
